What he works on
Andrzej Misiak brings three decades in IT and data science, and the last ten-plus years focused specifically on energy portfolio economics, to Enerscape, the consultancy he founded for data-driven optimization of complex renewable and industrial energy portfolios. He is also CEO of Enerflux, a related company in the same group. His work centers on one question: how much financial value does a portfolio actually realize per MWh produced, and where between production and final settlement is the rest being lost.
The approach behind Enerscape treats production, trading, balancing, contracts and operations as one continuous decision process. In most organizations these functions belong to separate teams with separate systems and separate KPIs. The forecasting team optimizes accuracy, the trading desk optimizes its book, operations optimizes availability, and the contract sits in a drawer. Value leaks in the gaps between them. Andrzej's work is to instrument that whole chain, measure realized value per MWh against an agreed benchmark, and improve the decisions that drive it.
How the work is run
Two principles run through everything he deploys. The first is shadow mode before live operations: every proposed optimization is tested against the client's own historical and live data, producing timestamped, logged decisions that are valued against real market outcomes before anything is allowed to touch live operations. The second is human-in-the-loop escalation: automated systems handle routine decisions around the clock, while edge cases are routed to a person through a defined escalation path. Machine learning and AI appear inside this system as tools, applied where they measurably improve a specific decision.
Background
Andrzej works hands-on with market, production and settlement data across renewables, battery storage, hybrid sites and industrial energy systems, covering topics such as route-to-market, intraday markets, balancing, PPAs and flexibility value. His writing focuses on the economics of portfolio decisions: what realized value per MWh measures, why forecast accuracy is a weak proxy for financial results, and how to benchmark an optimizer honestly.
He publishes regularly on these topics through the Enerscape knowledge hub and on LinkedIn.
His path into energy started in 2015, building billing, settlement and customer-platform systems for Polenergia and later Tauron. Over the following years, alongside broader IT programme and delivery work, he moved steadily further into the sector: process and production optimization for energy clients, then forecasting and portfolio-optimization work, then leading the digital transformation of a CHP fleet of over 20 plants for U&R Calor Group (2024–present). In 2023 he founded the independent advisory practice that became Enerflux and Enerscape. That energy-sector track record sits on top of three decades in IT and data science, including running an 80-plus person delivery team at Euvic, a pan-European ITIL 4 transformation programme for Arriva Group across 14 countries, and building a 70-person delivery center from zero in six months. He holds an M.Sc. in Computer Science from the Technical University of Wrocław.
